Why Parents Choose
St. Stephen School
High Standards for Academic Achievement
& Personal Development
We at St. Stephen School continue to place a high priority on the basics of education with faith formation being the first on the priority list. Students will continue to be held to high standards from staff members who believe all students can achieve. Because we are a Catholic School, we are a constantly teaching and reinforcing the Catholic values so important to our faith. The students know the difference between right and wrong.
Safe, Nurturing Environment
St. Stephen School is a safe place for our children to learn, to create, and to expand their learning potential. The teachers are also learners, many of them have attended courses and workshops over the summer and during the school year and have successfully implemented the new ideas into the classroom. The school facilities are very well maintained by the St. Stephen church custodial staff.
Atmosphere of Discipline
At St. Stephen School, we constantly focus on the “good behaviors” of our students. We promote self-discipline and responsibility for our actions and above all respect for others. Our students are not perfect but are well behaved and the teachers are able to focus on the academics rather than discipline or classroom control.
Parental Involvement and Accountability
The school and the parents are considered partners dedicated to ensuring a successful educational experience for the students.
A Dedicated Staff
This year, there are 50 school employees dedicated to your child’s spiritual and academic education. Our well-qualified teachers are supportive of the Catholic identity of the school, the academic program and the values in our school that are so important to us.
Shared Sense of Vision
United, we will be able to provide the best possible educational experience for our students, an experience in which students and adults will have the opportunity of growing in their faith, as well as love and respect for God, others, and themselves.
Catholic Schools Week
Every week is Catholic Schools Week at St. Stephen School, but annually we celebrate Catholic Schools Week with a Sunday Mass followed by an all school open house and book fair. It is important to us to celebrate our faith with our families and our community. Catholic schools week details are listed on our home page current events as well as the calendar section of our website.
Middle School Sports
Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in sports at St. Stephen School. Teams compete in a very competitive North Suburban Parochial School League (NSPSL), in soccer, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cross country, baseball and softball. Each sports season includes regularly scheduled games along with playoff games culminating in an opportunity to win a league championship.

"St. Stephen's faith based education is critical in preparing our children to be successful leaders in their community."
