Sacrament of First Eucharist

Families with children in 2nd or 3rd grade (or older) are invited to prepare for and celebrate First Eucharist.  Sacramental preparation is in addition to the regular religious instruction in Faith Formation programs or St. Stephen’s School. Therefore, all participants in sacramental preparation must be registered in Faith Formation programming or at St. Stephen’s School.

First Eucharist preparation consists of a required Parent Meeting and parent/child participation in two parish support events - Learning Centers and a First Eucharist Retreat. Parents are provided a First Eucharist book and all details at the Parent Meetings and families use this text as they provide at-home preparation.  First Communion celebrations will occur after Easter at the Church of St. Stephen over the course of several weeks.

A copy of each child’s baptismal certificate is required in order to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. If the child was baptized at St. Stephen’s, no baptismal certificate is needed.
