Annual Events
Summerfest
This has been the major parish summer event since 1980. Summerfest is typically the third weekend in June. Mark your calendars for June 20-22, 2008! Festivities include food, music, entertainment, rides, kids games, adult games, and bingo - all capped off by the giant raffle winners being named on Sunday evening. This event covers the 3-day weekend and has become a key event in the City of Anoka.
Parish Garage Sale
Our parish garage sale usually takes place in August. This year's sale is August 15/16. When putting things aside for donation, remember that clothing must be clean, unstained and in good repair. Computer equipment (other than software), telephones, office machines, microwave ovens, space heaters, mattresses, air conditioners and magazines will NOT be accepted. All electronics and appliances must be clean and in good working order. Unsold large appliances and exercise equipment will need to be reclaimed by the person who donated the item to avoid having the church incur a disposal fee. A great benefit to volunteering for the garage sale is that all volunteers have an opportunity to pre-sale before the sale opens.
Lenten Fish Dinners
The ever-popular Lenten Fish Dinners are held at St. Stephen’s on Fridays during Lent. Dinner is served from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event, hosted by the Anoka Knights of Columbus, will be held in the Faith Community Center. The menu consists of generous servings of baked and deep fried fish, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls and apple crisp. Beverages include coffee, milk and lemonade. This event is open to everyone and all are welcome. "To-Go" boxes are available.
Mardi Gras
This annual gala takes place the Saturday preceding Ash Wednesday.
This is an evening full of fun, food and festivities. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with a Social Hour and Silent Auction. A gourmet dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. There are games throughout the evening and the live auction typically begins at 9:30 p.m. There is music and dancing until 11:30 p.m. It is truly a Gala Evening for anyone 18-90+ years of age. Dress is from Sunday best to Fancy Dress and everything in between. Advance ticket sales only. For more information or to buy tickets contact the Parish Office.
Meet new friends and enjoy the company of old friends as we kick off our journey to Easter!
Craft Boutique
St. Stephen's School has its annual Craft Boutique typically the weekend before Thanksgiving. This year's boutique is November 22/23. There are over 100 crafters with unique ideas for your Christmas gift giving. Admission is free. There are pictures with Santa and a breakfast and lunch bar.
Brunch With Santa
Come enjoy a delicious brunch and visit with Santa typically the first or second Sunday in December after all the morning Masses. Ticket sales begin approximately three weeks prior to the event. They are typically sold after Masses and in the Parish office. If there are tickets remaining, they will be available at the door on the day of the brunch. The menu includes eggs, sausage, hash browns, milk, juice and coffee. And of course, Santa will be coming through to chat with children of all ages!
A cheerful heart has a continual feast.
