Commitment Sunday

A Momentous Occasion. Our Turn Up the Flame spiritual campaign is a three-year, parish-wide effort to grow spiritually. This is a fantastic opportunity! Our relationship with God deserves top priority. With greater attention to prayer, ongoing religious education, and the implementation of Jesus’ gospel in our families, our flames will burn higher and give off more light. As hundreds and hopefully thousands of our parishioners come forward in procession this weekend with their pledge sheets, feel the overwhelming power of so many joining together in this spiritual renewal.

 

Results. The typical fund drive charts dollars pledged; Turn Up the Flame will chart the number of pledge sheets returned, and reports on the number of pledges received will be provided.

 

What If I Didn’t Fill Out a Pledge Sheet or Forgot Mine? Extra pledge sheets will continue to be available on tables in the Gathering Place, outside the Parish Office, and outside the Formation Room. If you don’t have a pledge sheet, please take one. If you haven’t filled out a pledge sheet, please do so. Once you are finished, please return the bottom sheet. If you did not return a pledge sheet on Commitment Sunday, they will be welcomed anytime afterward. There is a special return box in the Gathering Place. You can also return your pledge by mail or drop it off at the parish office.

 

The True Test. Your pledge is extremely important, but it is only the beginning. The true test is follow-through, to actually do what you have indicated. May God strengthen your resolve.

 

E-Flames. You can receive monthly reminders to remain faithful to your pledge. These special e-mail messages are called “e-Flames,” and they will be sent from the parish office to your computer. If you wish to receive e-Flames, please include your e-mail address at the top of your pledge sheet. Your address will be held in strict confidence and shared with no one else.

 

Wrist Bands. Demand was astounding. Thousands were taken. We ran out. More will be ordered. Your eagerness to make a public display of participation in the Turn Up the Flame campaign is simply fabulous!

 

Fire Up Your Prayer! Prayer is the way to Turn Up the Flame, and Fr. John Floeder will be offering two different sessions on prayer: “Prayer 101,” the basics, on Feb. 25 at 7:00 p.m., March 4 at 7:00 p.m., and March 8 at 9:00 a.m.; and “How to Go Deeper” on March 8 at 10:30 a.m. and March 10 at 7:00 p.m.
